Privacy Policy Statement

Background

Careers Unlimited is bound by the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000, based upon the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) regulating the collection, storage, access to, use, disclosure and de-identification of personal information.

The NPPs establish a minimum standard that recruitment organisations such as Careers Unlimited must observe when handling personal information. Careers Unlimited is committed to protecting the privacy of our candidates. Our Privacy Policy Statement outlines the procedures we have in place to fulfil this commitment as follows:

Collection

The information Careers Unlimited collects generally includes your name, address, contact numbers, emergency contact details, transportation details, nationality, ideal job, education detail, employment history, referee details and skills and attributes. These details are collected through your Resume, lodging your details through our website or other employment websites and comments provided by our referees.

Our Purposes for Collecting Information

The information we collect assists us in assessing your job requirements, guarding your suitability for jobs and contacting you when opportunities arise. Although our best efforts are made to find you employment with your corporation, we cannot guarantee we will be successful in our endeavours.

Purpose for Holding Information

Your information is held by Careers Unlimited to assist us in sourcing your ideal job.

How Personal Information is Held

Careers Unlimited holds your personal information in a combination of computer storage facilities and paper based files.

These storage facilities and records are located on site at our head office:

All computerised records are stored on our secure services and locked in the server room. Our files are locked in secure cabinets and we implement a clean desk policy. Our premises are locked down when unattended.

Disclosure

In some cases Careers Unlimited will be required to pass your details on to prospective employers and from time-to-time, Careers Unlimited may use your details for statistical purposes. Before Careers Unlimited forward or use your details in any way, you will be contacted and required to attend an interview with one of our consultants. At this point we will ask you to sign a disclosure agreement giving Careers Unlimited your consent to use your information and forward your details to prospective employers. You will also be able to indicate employers from whom your details will be withheld.

We will also disclose or use your personal information without your consent in the following circumstances:

 

  • We suspect that an unlawful activity has been, is being or may be engaged in and the personal information is a necessary part of our investigation or reporting the matter, or
  • We are authorised or required by law to do so (eg. Where information is required by bodies regulating us or in response to subpoenas or warrants), or
  • We have contacted an external organisation to provide support services and that organisation has agreed to conform to our privacy standards and allow us to audit them for compliance, or
  • The disclosure is to a credit reporting agency in connection with us extending credit to you or recovering from you amounts that you owe under any contract you may have with us.

    Access and Correction Rights

    At any time, candidates may request access and corrections be made with respect to their personal information held by Careers Unlimited. All requests should be made in writing to:
